Traveller’s kit according to destination

Maria José García, pharmacist and educator of Vitae, explains what we should not forget to pack according to the holiday destination we choose. In a previous article we talked about the ten essential things we have to bring in our traveller’s kit, but according to the characteristics of our destination, we will have to think about adding or leaving some of them.

Everybody, regardless of the location should prepare their intestines a week before we leave, as, changing regular habits as simple as food, and water, etc. can provoke alterations in our digestive system. The best way to prevent it? With probiotics and prebiotics.

Beach

If the destination is the beach, we should not forget sunscreen and an oral sunscreen to complete the action of photo protection achieving  a more uniform tan, nutrition and hydration of the skin, avoiding future blemishes and premature aging of the skin, etc. We can also include a soothing cream or gel in case of insect bites or jellyfish stings. Above all, remember to hydrate properly and not sunbathe at the hottest hours of the day.

Jungle

It is Important to wear comfortable clothes, if possible made of cotton and light colors. That said, it is imperative that we get a good insect and mosquito repellent, a topical cream to improve symptoms if we could not avoid the sting, and finally, an oral antihistamine.

Mountains

Although it may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about a mountain destinations, it is imperative that we take a good sunscreen, as for every 100 meters we climb in altitude, solar radiation increases by 15%. This means we have to take even more care, than when we go to the beach. A first-aid kit to treat possible falls, scratches, sprains etc. It should include a disinfectant, decompression bandages, bandages, ibuprofen, anti-inflammatory cream etc.
