The immune system (defences) is a combination of cells, tissues and organs that fight against germs (bacteria or viruses). The objective is to prevent infection and disease. Antigens are substances that the body does not recognize and there are several types: bacteria, viruses, toxins, chemicals or damaged cells. When the immune system detects some antigen in the body, it sends a signal to recognize the threat and eliminate it (immune response). This action consists of creating antibodies (proteins) to fight it. Once the antigen has been overcome, the immune system already has the appropriate response to this threat. So if it is threatened again by the same antigen, the immune system already has the antibodies to be able to fight it quickly and effectively.

Once the functioning of the immune system has been understood, it is worth remembering how we can keep it strong and healthy:

Carry out a healthy diet avoiding the intake of saturated fat
Avoid the consumption of alcohol and tobacco
Perform physical exercise in a regular way
Proper rest and sleep
Support your day-to-day with some natural food supplements that contribute to the correct functioning of the immune system
