Naturopathic Therapists

On the 14th and 15th of September Vitae exhibited at the ANP Summit 2019

The ANP is a professional association representing Naturopathic Therapists. Hosted in the beautiful College for Naturopathic Medicine in London was this 2-day conference with Dr Joe Pizzorno one of the world’s leading authorities on integrative and natural medicine and Matthew Wood; ‘A Real Live Herbalist’, an international speaker, lecturer and author of six acclaimed books on herbal medicine.

Day 1: Dr. Pizzorno talked about the important topics and case studies on increasing toxin excretion and the genomics of toxicity and detoxification. Dr Pizzorno is one of the world’s leading authorities on integrative medicine and life-long advocate of natural medicine and naturopathic principles.

Day 2: Matthew Wood discussed the 6 tissue states and how to see imbalances in clients. He also shared his knowledge and experience on how herbs can effectively balance female reproductive hormones. Matthew Wood has been a practicing herbalist since 1982. In a period when many authors and lecturers are merely “arm chair herbalists” who offer theories and opinions based on book learning, and others have turned to the exotic traditions of India or China, he has been an active practitioner of traditional Western herbalism.

The presence of toxic or other harmful substances in the body can influence the performance of the liver and therefore our immune, gastrointestinal or nervous systems, as well as influence the state of our skin, among others. It is very common that your body, at times, may need a “reset” to function better. If you feel heavy or you notice that you have accumulated fatigue, you have done some kind of excess (it is very common after meals on vacations, holidays, summer…) your body needs a cleansing to eliminate toxins and heavy metals. There are many foods that have a purifying function for the liver: turmeric, vegetables rich in chlorophyll, beets, ginger, grapefruit or lemon are an example. In addition, it is essential to drink a lot of water every day, as it will help us keep the liver system in normal conditions. The detoxification process can contribute to the general well-being of the organism, noticing or not the benefits of the process will depend on each individual, the type of toxins present in the organism, what physiological functions and, to what extent, they have been altered by the presence of these substances.
